    Excellent Set

I was actually going to CTC to purchase a few sockets that I was missing in my 1/2 sizes (metric and SAE) to do a few, but seeing this set on sale, decided to spoil myself. For the Maximum line, I do find it pretty basic, but it is a great set and a great fit in my garage.

    too many 12 points

first off let me say I cannot fault the quality of the tools they are first rate I have used Canadian tire /mastercraft tools to earn my living as a mechanic for close to 30 years sorry don't buy into the snap-on deal still have 2 of the first ratchets I bought after 30 years in the trade My first complaint is the trays pretty much useless cheap quality and they don't fit in any normal tool box drawer exept 1 at a time and I am sorry I am not wasting 5 drawers to store this kit my work box is setup that my entire socket set and accessories fit in one wide drawer in my bottom box should at the least be able to put 2 trays in a drawer of a normal width tool box OMG whats with all the 12 point junk 30 years as a mechanic I think I own maybe 3 12 point sockets and my kit consists of well over 300 sockets seriously a 12 point 1/4 " drive deep socket that should take about 3.5 inch lbs of torque to split open And why would you even consider a 1/2"drive socket as a 12 point the socket you use for the heavy duty stuff that's just asking for failure so I am returning this kit my fault I guess I should have researched the set a bit and tool quality is excellent and I bought it on sale so you can not beat the price

No, I do not recommend this product.

Great set but too many repeat sizes

With the whole 6 and 12 point sockets, this set has quite a few unnecessary repeat sizes. Was pretty disappointed that it only went up to 27mm, since the last set went to 30mm. Lots of axle nuts for example are in the 30mm+ range. But other than that it's a great set to have. I really like the addition of gear wrenches and engraved numbering on the sockets.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

Q: What's missing? Compared to the older 400 piece Mastercraft socket set, what 16 pieces does the new set not contain?

    1 Answer
    • A: • The sets are not necessarily directly comparable. The quality level of the new 384pc set is much better and as such, we have put the older 400pc Set under our Mastercraft brand • Key Changes: o We changed the basic combination wrenches out and replaced them with ratcheting wrenches o There are 13 less ½” Sockets, 11 less insert bits and 2 less clip rails o There are 8 more ¼” Sockets and 2 more 3/8”sockets o The quality of each component has been tested to a higher standard and most importantly the ratchets found within are of a professional quality o We feel as though this is a very comprehensive set designed to meet the needs of a higher level DIY to Professional end user
