Product Details

The Mastercraft 1/2-in Air Impact Wrench is designed to quickly and efficiently remove stubborn lug nuts. Boosted by twin hammer power, this pneumatic drill delivers 2x the working torque when compared to a standard air-powered impact wrench. Powerful and robust, this air wrench delivers up to 420 ft-lb of torque (7000 RPM) and can tighten or remove stubborn nuts and bolts up to 5/8”. A forward/reverse switch allows you to go from tightening a nut or bolt to removing it easily. A built-in regulator lends precise speed and torque control to this air impact wrench, while the die-cast aluminum body provides superior strength and durability. The ergonomic rubber grip helps to reduce hand fatigue during extended use of the air tool, while handle exhaust allows you to direct exhaust air away from the work area. A screened inlet prevents dirt particles from entering the air intake, preserving the tool’s longevity. This product includes an air-powered impact wrench, a 1/4” NPT plug, a hex wrench, and a bottle of oil.

Gun is rated for 420lbs of torque. It got my tires off on a truck torqued to 140lbs but took a while and was just not that good. Oil the gun and all adequate pressure.

No, I do not recommend this product.

I got this impact in the kit on sale, used daily in an automotive shop. Oiled daily with kleen flo. The good: Great for removing lugnuts Great for just starting out or the weekend hobbyist. Dialed the regulator to 70ftlbs output (scratched mark) Tough The bad: Poor placement of forward/reverse switch On the heavier side of impacts Trigger is all or nothing Overall I do recommend this impact for those that are starting out in the trade until they can afford something better.

    impact speed

people who bought this impact wrench don't know much about air tools this wrench got 3 speed forward and 3 speed reverse and going from forward to reverse what ever speed it's set on you don't have to change the dial from f to r look on the left side at the speed setting and look on the right side at the speed setting it's backwards so going from f to r your speed setting don't change so why make a neg comment when you don't know the functions of the impact wrench

Q: My impact wrench has started to puff (blows out air) when using it and doesn't have the torque needed anymore. If I play with the speed dial I can get it to work a bit, but not very good. How can I fix this?

    • A: Add pneumatic oil every time you use it. This should bring back the torque in your tool.

Q: Description says will drive bolts up to 5/8".  Does this mean it won't work on my 13/16" lug nuts?

    • A: Mine easily takes off lug nuts of this size. I assume you mean the lug nut size as measured across the flats of the hex nut, not the diameter of the threaded stud.

Q: Do I really need an air compressor that produces 7scfm to run this impact wrench?

    • A: Nope. My compressor is 4.2 and it works just fine. Took off all four wheels put back on, no effort and compressor did not have to recharge until almost the last nut was put back on.

Q: Is the 90 PSI the working pressure or static pressure required? I want to optimize the performance of the wrench.

    1 Answer
    • A: 90psi is the working pressure of the tool – this is an industry standard and it is also stated in the “Technical Specifications” page (page 3) of the product manual. The ‘static pressure’ is the pressure in the system when the tool is not under load/working. However, confusingly, the manual later states to set the air compressor regulator to 90psi as well (page 14), which means that the air tool would actually have a lower working pressure. To achieve 90psi working pressure at the tool, the customer would actually have to set their air compressor regulator to slightly higher than 90psi, to compensate for the pressure drop between the compressor outlet and air tool inlet. The amount of this pressure drop mostly depends on (1) the air tool itself, (2) the length and (3) the diameter of the air hose being used. Having the air tool run at a pressure lower than the recommended working pressure decreases performance (will not provide max torque claimed), but running the tool at too high a pressure can damage the tool’s internal components. Due to the number of factors influencing system pressure drop, we cannot provide a specific value to set the air compressor regulator to - we can only suggest to set the air compressor to 90psi, to avoid any damage to the tool.
