Perfect!
I bought this a couple of weeks ago to use at work to clear out old dead trees/brush with my coworkers
I honestly thought this would be underpowered and would take a while. Clearly i misjudged this bad boy. I was very impressed how well this works! This baby has lots of power!
Two things to note about this tool.
1) No electric brake. When you let go of the trigger, the blade still moves but does so slowly until it comes to a stop.
2) There is no trigger safety feature to lock the trigger to prevent accidental start ups.
however, i reviewed the manual and looked over the machine BEFORE using it and knew it has neither of these safety features. So as long as you are careful, you will get a lot of use out of this machine. I would have given it 5 stars if both of these safety features were included.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Versatile tool

I have used this saw to cut tree branches and metal closet bars, demo a stud wall and cut the door out of the wall.
Works well for me. For a smaller person (me) it is the perfect size.
The blade retainer holds blades firmly and is very quick for changing blades. If the blades fall out, it's probably a defective unit.
On my 3rd year with it now.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Didn't expect it to last.

I bought this on special for some home demolition. 4 years later and multiple demolitions it still works perfectly. It is a little under powered, but with the right blade it will push through.
Yes, I recommend this product.

il a couper un arbre chez moi sans broncher, cet outils vaux son prix et je le possède encore et l`utilise après plusieurs années
This unit can handle mild steel flat bar up to at least 1/4 inch (lube & low speed with steel blade), and can then (with 6in 6TPI blade) easily deal with tree limbs to 5in. use hi speed. I feel the angled grip adds both stability and flexibility. allowing for easy cutting from many angles. Possibly the only advantage to the more common L grip would be in vertical cutting, but how many ceilings and floors do you really need to cut.

A: Just the box, no case. It's small enough that I just transport it in the box.

Q: Could I use this to cut down a small tree (trunk diameter about 9 cm)?
Usually I'd rent a chain saw but was curious if it was safe to cut a sapling down with this type of saw.

A: I used it to cut off a 15cm diameter birch tree.
There is no safety issue using this saw, other than wear eye protection and use common sense.
Q: Reciprocating Saw stopped working
I was working on my old deck, cutting rotten 2x4x6 when my saw stopped working. What can I do to start it again.
When it stopped working there was no noise, fume or smell..

A: I would try plug the saw directly into another good tested circuit because the possibility of overloading the fuse, wire, bad extension cord, or the damage to the power receptacle plug itself.

Q: I have a brand new unit. The blade slips out of the chuck too often, even when there is no load on the blade (which is brand new also).
I see many others have experienced this problem. (CTC forum/FAQ) What is the solution?

A: The spring return should lock the blade in place, but I have found it a good idea to manually spin the mechanism to lock the blade if it does not automatically spring return. A bit of WD40 and some oil on the mechanism usually loosens it up and gets it working freely.

Q: Does it cut shapes for projects?
Does this saw cut shapes out of plywood, such as circles and triangles precisely. For example, will it be able to cut a circle with a diameter of 1.5-2 inches.

A: No way. I think minimum diameter is 10" and for sure is not precisely.

Q: How do I remove a broken blade from my reciprocating saw
I am unable to grasp saw blade as it has broken off flush

A: The same thing happened to mine yesterday; the tool-less clamp usually releases the blade very easily, but this time it's stuck. Fortunately mine's still under warranty (3 yrs) so CT says they will replace it (thanks CT!) - make sure you keep the receipt!

Q: Is it possible to replace the quick blade change assembly when it is seized closed?

A: Same problem with mine. Checked online and asked several people. Couldn't find a solution, so am replacing the entire unit (buying better one, on sale at CTC).

Q: Is the general purpose reciprocating saw blade meant for cutting through metal (nails) as well?

2 Answers
A: I would say no, and go get an actual blade meant for cutting metal. The one provided is more for cutting through wood.
