Where on earth do buy a replacement belt for this bandsaw 055-6748-6
a year ago
Its true this bandsaw won't cut a straight line especially if your in a hurry and just pushing it thru quickly. However if you attach the guide and take it a little slower it cuts perfect, the thickness matters to I think. That's not my problem. The belt broke and my husband went to Canadian Tìre to get a replacement belt I mean Canadian Tire sells mastercraft products, yes? Unfortunately they do not carry replacement belts for the bandsaw now isnt that convenient. I personally believe that either a. you carry a replacement belt for the mastercraft bandsaw or b. dont sell the mastercraft bandsaw. or at least have an idea as to where a person can purchase the replacement belt with out having to go online. of course now that the belt is broken and they dont have a replacement belt they refused to exchange old bandsaw for new bandsaw even with a receipt. So I guess they dont care that this product now sits in the corner of the garage gathering dust because they dont carry a replacement belt and my husband refuses to order online because of all the fraud that happens with info. We have the faced fraud on our bank account a few times and so won't order anything online.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Great Addition to my Shop

It is a great addition to my shop for light duty work. This is by no means a professional quality bandsaw but it is great for the occasional cutting I need.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Q: Can this bandsaw be used to cut meat and bones?

A: It is powerful enough but not with the stock blade and you will need to take into account for all the oils and lubricant in it are not food grade and cleaning would be a nightmare I think you would be better off getting and actuall food grade meat saw

A: The band saw can not do this job. We suggest to use a table saw that the max cutting height can catch 4” or more.

A: I've cut 2" thick maple on it with no problems.
BUT: with a high quality replacement blade on it. The OEM blade would not cut it at all.

Q: is there a metal cutting blade for this saw and does it work properly in this application
3 years ago

A: You can buy blades to cut non ferrous metals from CTC for this saw. Be aware that it is only for non ferrous, ferrous metal will dull it in the first pass. I tried one and while it would cut aluminum, it dulled quickly and stopped cutting after a few passes. Wood bandsaws are not intended to cut metals, the speeds are just too fast. Metal bandsaws turn much slower and this means the blades don't dull as fast. If you could slow the speeds it might last longer, but it's a single phase AC motor which is either n or off.No speed control.. Either way, this 9" bandsaw is not the tool for cutting metal. You need something like a portaband, which is intended to cut metals, ferrous or not.you can also buy a portaband at CTC, or another retailer if that is your preference.

Q: Can this saw cut 1/8" steel with a better blade?
I'm looking to cut some 1/8th inch steel flat bar stock and was wondering if this saw would cut it with a better blade installed.

A: No. It's a wood bandsaw. It turns much too fast to cut ferrous metals. You can get a metal blade for it, but it is for non-ferrous metals only. Use it on steel and it will dull in the first minute or two. If you want to cut steel, go get a portaband, which is designed for the job.
