Master chef Universal igniter kit. NOT UNIVERSAL !!

Bought this kit for replacement on a Coleman bbq as it says it is”universal” for bbqs. Is not universal, wouldn’t work on my bbq - not enough wire holes on igniter( need 4) which you cannot see until you open it ( only 2) .Because of the packaging you can not see the wire holes on igniter. Returned to C T for refund.

A: I just installed it in the front panel and conected the output wire to the existing wire going to the ignitor so I didn't replace anything else.

Q: can i use can i use this product as a normal click style replacement?? i would like to convert my bbq to electronic sparker.

A: Yes, you can if you have the space behind the control panel. I changed mine with few problems. The little plastic cover over the button doesn't seem to last more that a season but I'm going to spray it with something - maybe WD40, to see if lasts longer. Very simple and nice to use. I'd but another one.

Q: In figure 7c the three outputs all go to an electode. 7a, 7b are referenced to ground whereas 7c would appear to "float" above ground, intuitively this should not work, huh?

A: Hello and thank you for your question. The system does not have to be grounded for the ignitor to work, and will function as in 7C with all 3 wires going to electrodes. This has been confirmed through testing.

A: Yes, the electronic igniter, 85-1309-0 is a universal design and will fit on this Grillmaster 720-0737 BBQ. The only difference may be the number of terminals. The universal design 85-1309-0 igniter has 2 output and 1 ground terminal which allows connections to 2 main burners or 1 main burner and a side burner.

Q: Will this igniter work with Centro 6800? Will this igniter be able to replace a Centro 6800 propane bbq that the push button switch is broken?

A: This electronic replacement should work with any BBQ having no more than 2 spark gap ignitors and a mounting hole of about 3/4" dia, with about 2.5" of clearance to one side and about 2" of clearance to the back. The ground terminal from the module must be connected to a screw mounted on the BBQ body.
