Water Tank Cover Leaks Making Product Useless!

Steam generation is okay and can moisturize my small space. However, the water tank cover started leaking in less than one week of use. Now I cannot refill the tank and set it back safely without pouring water all over the floor. This has made the product extremely difficult to use and soon will be useless when that plastic seal gives way completely. I have humidifiers that use the same spring action water flow control system and these have been going on for years! I sent an email to Kaz consumer relations a week ago asking for a replacement cover but no response yet. This thing may be destined for the trash yard if I cannot find a fix.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Great value and easy to use

It is well designed, easy to operate and has a great value. There is a lot of deposit on the heating element and that made me realize how bad the water is in my area and I am glad that I use a water filter. The heating element is not easy to reach and the recommended vinegar and bleach regular maintenance does not remove the deposit fully. I just hope they come up with an easier to clean model.

Don't buy

This humidifier leaked from the start, from the O ring/rubber valve at the bottom of the tank and also the machine would shut down indicating that it requires cleaning when the element had just been cleaned. After a while it didn't matter if you cleaned the element or not it wouldn't run. We took it back and exchanged it numerous times only to have the same issue. We ended up going with a different model

Good but leaked

I had this humidifier for 2 years. It worked very well and I was very happy with it's ability to raise the humidity in a large room which was an open concept small living room and dining room. After 2 years, it began to leak when it was turned off with water in it. Then, it leaked when it was turned on. After checking online for possible solutions, I decided it was too much trouble to fix and threw it out. Also, I didn't like the constant cleaning of the calcium buildup.

A: The HMW-450 does not need any filters or mineral pads. The older version had a flat heating element that would allow for the pads but the new version that has been out for a couple years has an element with a weird shape so no pads can be used effectively.

A: I don't find that it does. The minerals tend to stay on the heat plate at least that has been my experience.

A: It does not. This unit boils water into steam therefore no worries regarding white dust. Mineral deposits do build up on the heating element, regular cleaning is essential.
