Do not buy this poor excuse of a fire extinguisher

My Garrison was only 2 years old when it leaked out all of its pressure. When i needed it to work it let me down and i could of had a car burn because of it luckily i had a spare. This is a cheap unit and i will never buy this brand again. It has a 5 year warranty but with no receipt it is no help to me even tho they only sell at Canadian tire

Check the pressure before you buy
I got to the checkout to pay for it and when I looked at the gauge I noticed it was already in the replace zone so I went back to grab another one
Aside from that the unit looks good and is ideal for a kitchen

A: Hi William 70 F is typically regarded as room temp. The 2BC 1lb extinguisher you are asking about CTC model# 46-0048, along with CTC model# 46-0069, are both 75psi @ room temp 70-72 F.

Q: Can you tell me where I can find out more about Garrison online? My research turns up very little about the track record of this manufacturer...only that Safeway is the parent company in China and has been in business only since 2016. Nothing about the products and whether they are reliable.

A: Hello Dean Safeway has no affiliation at all with the Garrison fire extinguisher line. Garrison branded products are Canadian Tire's brand. All of the products under the Garrison branding are Nationally branded products making their products under this private label name. These products are all very reliable. The fire extinguishers being carried by Canadian Tire all have approvals and are listed by Underwriters Laboratories/Underwriters Laboratories Canada, the governing body that maintains quality controls of the extinguishers sold in Canada.

A: This extinguisher, 46-0048 is made of steel. This a 2BC fire extinguisher and is not a CO2 extinguisher. CO2 extinguishers are not available for sale at retail.

A: This and all other models have a manufacturing year date stamped in the metal on the very bottom of the canister. This date is the year that the unit was manufactured and the unit is good until 6 years after this date. After the 6 years it may be taken into an authorized service depot, where you may have it over hauled and it will be good for another 6 years. The cost of the over haul varies by model and company providing the service. To find a service depot in your area, look in the yellow pages under "fire".

A: Yes this unit (46-0048) is listed and approved by Underwriters Laboratories Canada (ULC) as being able to be recharged after use. Please look in your local yellow pages under "Fire" for companies that are listed to service and recharge fire extinguishers. These are independent companies located across Canada.
