I bought this product like a month ago. I have used it quite a bit now and it’s great for splitting wood. And it’s great for casual use. Although my one complaint is the handle. It’s hard plastic and not wood. But I have accidentally hit the handle on the wood and it bounced back like nothing happened.

X27 Awesome tool

I have had my X27 for several years now, so I feel like a can do an honest review. I have been splitting firewood for around 50 years now, did mauls mostly, then a gas splitter, then the gas splitter needed a new engine and the manufacturer made it so that I could not replace the engine myself without a modification that had to be done at a certified shop, or it would void my warranty. The splitter sits and the axe gets a workout. I am able to split just about anything with this axe and highly recommend it. Hickory, white oak, red oak and maple. I have about 16' more to split, should take an hour a day for 3 days. For some reason it would not let me include a photo.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Q: I want to make sure that the 36" Fiskars splitting axe is model X 27. The one that is shown in the picture is an X 25.

A: If it does not have a yellow grip it is not an X27. Model # 375841 is the Fiskars Super 36" Splitting Axe and Model # 7884 is the Fiskars X 27 Super 36" Splitting Axe. The X 27 is the newer version of the Super 36" Splitting Axe. The Axe head of the X 27 is coated with a teflon type paint, which helps against friction the axe head encounters while cutting through rounds. Also the X 27 has rubber grip on the axe handle which is the yellow part that you see. Other then those differences, they are the same Axe.

Q: The information on this axe says it's for tall users. My husband is of average height, will it be difficult for him to use?

A: The longer the handle the better. It is easier to exert force with longer handle. Since the axe head is further away from you, it is safer. I made a 44" handle for my Mattock pick axe and it worked a lot better.

Q: How does the warranty work? The features note a "lifetime exchange warranty". How does this work? If I miss the round and manage to break the handle, can it be exchanged at any point in the future as long as I have the receipt?

A: In this case, The "canadian tire expert" is wrong. As you saw in the video, fiskars states that the shaft is "stronger than steel and won't break with over strike". This is also repeated in a product tip section on the fiskars website where a product tester repeats this and fiskars backs this publication. Fiskars warranty dep. will accept and axe broken by over strike. Canadian tire is not providing the warranty coverage, fiskars is. So please disregard this uninformed CT employee's opinion.

A: First : the Axe that you want is the X27 not the X25 shown in the CTA photo. Check out the X27 reviews on "You Tube" before you buy any other splitting axe. I think you will be impressed after viewing all the reviews on " You Tube " . Q: What is the performance and manufacturing difference between this "super splitting axe" and the x27 also made by fiskars? Dear Fiskars, I see a black coating on the super splitting axe and a plain black handle. The X27 has a grey coating on the head and an orange rubber grip on the handle. Are these the only differences?

A: Thank you for contacting Fiskars. The main different is the X series has a non-slip grip on the handle, and the black handled series does not. Other than that they are very similar and all produced in Finland.

Q: Is this the X27 #7824 axe or the older discontinued model #375841? The web page shows one photo of each model. The video is for the X27. The in-store stock is the older 375841. So ... which model is being sold online?

A: Thank you for contacting Fiskars. The item in the pictures (model 375841-1001) is the correct item. The video is for the X series axes, which is different than this axe.
