I've had one of these units for a few years now. I've read some people say it’s an OK unit, recommended for beginners. However, I would not recommend this for beginners, because it is difficult to use and therefore frustrating. First off, the rope and gloves are simply throw ins - their only purpose is to give you the false security of added value. Skipping ropes are a dime a dozen, and these gloves are awkwardly fit and of poor quality. The only component of this product that I actually still use is the platform for the speedbag that mounts to the wall. I have upgraded the bag, and the swivel (hinge). The bag itself is of poor quality, but it's actually not the weakest link of this unit - the swivel is. If you already own this product or are considering it because of the price is the best you can find, I highly recommend you replace the swivel. The swivel that comes with this unit has plastic parts and is unpredictable, unreliable, and difficult to use. A Canadian company called Rival Boxing makes fantastic swivels that worked on my Everlast Speedbag platform for $25. And if it's within your budget, I recommend checking out their speed bags as well. Important note: If you do decide to upgrade/change the speed bag itself, remember there are different sizes. The smaller the bag, the harder it is. Bigger bags are more appropriate for beginners.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Speed bag: Not the greatest material. Warps over time. Platform: A bit flimsy. You have to strike it right on where the the support platform touches the base or it'll shake to the point of ruining a good pace. Rope: Poor quality Gloves: Decent gloves. I find them a bit awkward for the speed bag (bare fisted or handwraps will do fine). With some experience you can use these for some heavy bag work (but make sure your form is perfect or you can break your hand). If you're a beginner, just looking to stay in shape, or buying for a younger boxer then this would be a good look. If you're moderately skilled or better then you probably won't like this much. If you're used to the big platforms you see in the boxing clubs then you will probably hate this set up.

Q: Where would you mount this ? Where would you mount this in your home? can someone give me an example ?

    • A: You'd mount this to a wall. You'd be wise to use a stud finder if you are mounting to a finished wall. The brackets are spaced so that you should be able to get all screws holding the brackets into studs (on both sides). It will leave quite a few holes behind, so put it in permanent spot - remember to put a lot of thought into how high you want this thing. Also, remember that a lot of vibrations will transfer into the wall and it will get loud, and can be heard loudly in other parts of the house. So put thought into where you put it. I'd recommend either a garage, basement, or an outside wall - not directly adjacent to where the noise will bother someone.
