    Good Timer - Terrible Sound Volume

    This is the third time we have bought this timer. First one simply wore out after several years of heavy use. The second one was purchased about one year ago and is very satisfactory. This third one, purchased a few weeks ago has such a weak sounding signal that often we don't hear it. I changed the battery but it did not help. Very disappointing as it's a great timer otherwise.

    No, I do not recommend this product.

    J'ai acheté cette minuterie pour la deuxième fois. La première a été parfaite jusqu'à ce qu'elle rende l'âme. La deuxième a une sonnerie tellement faible qu'on a peine à l'entendre et c'est moche pour une minuterie, Je suis déçue.

    Excellent kitchen timer for the price

    I bought this timer 3 weeks ago. It is excellent and the alarm is loud enough that you don’t tune it out. It rings for a full 60 seconds before turning itself off unless of course you turn it off yourself before the 60 seconds are up. Time is in minutes and seconds, not hours ie: 90:00 for 1.5 hours. Small, easy to use and numbers -easy to read. Uses 1 AAA battery

    Q: how do you turn it off? I have tried every combination of buttons and there is no on/off switch

    • A: I measured the current from the AAA battery to be 0.027 milliamps (0.000027 amps) in idle mode (not counting up or down). The capacity of an alkaline AAA battery is about 1,000 mAh which means that it will last for 1,000 hours if you draw 1 milliamp from it. The AAA battery in the timer should last for 1,000 / 0.027 = 37,037 hours = 4.2 years in idle mode (not counting up or down). I measured 0.26 milliamps when the timer was counting up, so the AAA battery should last for 1,000 / 0.26 = 3,846 hours = 0.4 years if you left it running (counting up or down) all the time.

    Q: How do you turn it off?

    • A: Holding down the Min. & Sec. buttons at the same time only resets the numbers back to 00:00:00. There is no way to turn the timer off other than pulling the battery and that is ridiculous in this day and age.

    • A: “There is no option for different sound levels on this item. The sound is the standard within the industry for timers. It is loud enough to hear from 50 feet away. The alarm will continue for 60 seconds, or until the user presses a button, whichever comes first.”
