I wish I had read the reviews first

I bought this a little over a year ago when my battery on my BMW Z3 died. I don't drive it a lot, so I bought a tool that would not just charge it, but "recondition" it. I followed the directions and I could never get it to do anything but the recondition mode, and that didn't seem to make any difference. I assumed that either the battery was toast or I was using it wrong, so I just replaced the battery. I just tried it again with the same result. It will only use one mode and it doesn't actually do anything. Waste of money, waste of space in my garage. And I'm a DeWalt guy, though I'm rethinking that.

Great product

I bought this charger for my shop use. Been working very good for 2.5 years. I'm planning on buy another one for back up, looks like it's discontinued. Starting searching through the inter web and found this product had 1.6 /5 starts review. I have to put down a 5 start for it. It's one of the better ones I owned through out my 20+ years in the automitive shops. It does everything it suppose to do and survived harsh condition of a dusty, greasy automotive shop for more than 2.5 years. We've been abuse it day in and day out, left it in the rain, in the snow, in the sun. It always worked. I don't know what people are complaining about. If I can find another one I definatly buy it again! For those people who complaint that it goes into repair mode/maintenance mode when hook up the battery, get your battery tested, it might be a bad battery. only old school charger will charge damaged batteries, all the new smart chargers will not charge damaged/defective batteries for your safety. Don't blame on the charger, blame on the crapy battery they make now a days. I am a fully licenced auto tech with 20+ years under my belt, arguments are welcome wink wink

Yes, I recommend this product.

This is so useful because it charges quickly, it holds a good charge and it fits in my purse so I can charge my other accessories when I’m on the go.

Yes, I recommend this product.

This thing is a JUNK! I only used it 3 times and stored it away. Now it won't even power up. Apparently it a very common issue reading other reviews.

BATTERY KILLER!!!

So disappointed. It will not charge batteries. Instead it goes into this "recondition" mode and depletes the battery. After days of sitting on the charger, the battery is essentially ruined.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Q: Will this start my van when the kids have killed the battery by leaving a cabin light on for two days?

  • A: As a point of clarity, note that this product must be plugged into the wall outlet (AC power) to use. (i.e. not to be confused with a booster pack). If you are looking for a portable device that doesn't need to be plugged into AC power, please consider something from our Booster/Power Pack selection. Depending on several factors such as condition of the battery, level of battery discharge, ambient temperature, size of engine and others, the Engine Start feature may be able to jump your vehicle immediately OR you may have to allow the charger to charge the battery for some time (5-20 minutes) before using the Engine Start feature. With that in mind, the answer to your question is - yes it can.

Q: The video, small pic at top and some of the reviews show the charger having a second set of cable connectors so you can charge two batteries at once. The other pictures do not show this. Has the unit been changed since you started carrying it?

  • A: Looks like the DXAEC801B and DXAEC801BCA (Canadian variant?) do not have the extra terminals but the DXAEC80 does. The video on Canadian Tire’s website shows the model number on the bottom-right corner of the frame. I was wondering this same thing back in February 2021 when I bought this from the same listing. What I got in the box was the DXAEC80 with the second set of terminals.

Q: how long can it maintain 80 Amps

  • A: This unit has a maximum output of 80A when in the engine start mode. This unit will only have a maximum output of 30A when charging a battery. If further assistance is needed, please contact Baccus Global Technical Support at 877.571.2391 or email at CustomerService@Baccusllc.com

Q: Would this work for an RV battery?

3 Answers
  • A: Yes it would. I owned one for several years and it works flawlessly. When I updated the 12 volt wiring on my older RV I purchased a second one and connected it permanently to keep my battery charged when parked at a seasonal lot. Keep in mind it is an automatic charger and will not charge a dead battery

Q: I've just bought this Dewalt battery charger today, as soon as I plugged the power cord into the wall receptacle, the circuit breaker tripped, and I tried many other receptacles with GFCI, all of their respective breaker tripped. Is the charger defective?

  • A: If other electronic devices do not do the same, then yes it is defective.

Q: Would this work with as a power source to power a block heater ? Specifically a 2000 ford 7.3 power stroke Diesel ?

2 Answers
  • A: Nope. this device is for charging batteries, puts out 12 volts DC for that. All you need for the block heater would be a good extension cord. Look for a cord that is at least #12 wire.
