Faulty fiberglass rope gasket

The fiberglass rope gasket came out and there seems to be no way to put it back in. I would avoid this product.

Great Addition to backyard cooking

We have had the oven for over two years and have smoked ribs, brisket, roasts and turkeys to perfection. It is fun to have such great results.
Also cooking pizzas are amazing - flavours are that much better. We have also made focaccia bread that was great.
It looks great in the backyard too!
Downside is the accessory package with the cover - it faded within one year and after two years has pin holes and is shredded. Substandard quality to protect such a great product. Canadian Tire refuses to acknowledge the issue or replace the cover - because I don't have the receipt for my cover I bought 2 years prior.
I will continue to use my oven and love it - but it sure looks shabby now. How long can it withstand Canadian winters with a holy cover? It's a catch 22 because it is unique in shape so there are no cover alternatives.....and I really don't want to buy a sub par cover....

Amazing, everyone needs one!

I finally broke down and bought one on sale. My wife and I put it together in less than an hour. We have had it now for over 2 months. We have cooked everything in it including warming up an apple pie. We started off with pizza, but have now moved on to chicken, pork and veggies. It took a bit of figuring out at the beginning. We have it down to a science now. Went back afterwards and bought the cover and tools. If you want an outdoor oven, this is it.

Q: What is the exterior made of? Does it have any warranty against rust?

A: Don't worry about rust (although it will probably rust, because the upper body of the oven is just painted steel and if it gets wet while it is hot, well you get the idea)... because IMHO this oven is a "DO NOT BUY AT ANY COST" because it is poorly designed and manufactured -- bad castings, ill-fitting doors, air controls and latches that do not work and seal properly, and in the end you will be stuck with it unless you are willing to lug it back to Canadian Tire to get a refund from Cuisinart if they agree to give you one.

A: Thank you for your question. Always cover your Gourmet Outdoor Oven during periods of non-usage and try to store it in a clean and dry area to help protect from the direct environment such as rain or snow.

A: Unfortunately we do not sell specific covers for this unit. As an alternative, we would suggest using a Small Size BBQ Cover such as the TRIPEL BBQ Cover, SKU 085-2271-0.

Q: How long does it take to heat the unit to cooking temperature?

A: This is a wood burning product, so the answer will depend on your ability to successfully get a fire burning. Once the fire is lit successfully, the vents on the Firedoor are opened and both the Cooking Chamber door and fire door are closed to preheat. You will then be able to watch the temperature of the cooking chamber rise using the temperature gauge on the Cooking Chamber door.

A: A grill matt should always be placed under any bbq or oven to avoid grease dripping and any damage. The key with positioning a grill or oven on any surface is that the front, back and sides of the oven must not be pushed up against any combustible material. There are clearance restrictions around BBQS and ovens that must be adhered to. When the oven is in operation the cart components stay cool to the touch. The rear and sides of the oven will become warm but not scolding. The front of the oven however, from opening and closing both the fire chamber door and cooking chamber door should never be touch. The cast iron parts will be dangerously hot and should never be touched. Handles on the doors and controls on the fire chamber can become warm but comfortable.

Q: Can you put water into the oven while bread is baking? It's common to throw small amounts of water into an oven while bread bakes at high temperatures (550F) This creates steam to make it crusty. Can you do this without harming the oven?

A: The best approach is to place a shallow pan with a small amount of water on the lower oven floor. The pan should be placed on top of the ceramic baking stone to release steam, while the bread bakes on one of the oven racks above. It is not recommended to throw water directly onto the ceramic stone, while the oven is in operation, as it may cause damage to this part. The water will help the dough stay soft on the outside longer while it continues to expand, and gives a crispier crust to the outside of the finished loaf.
