    Great Air Rifle

I purchased this rifle when it was on sale and tried right away in my backyard with various targets. Gun is great in shooting. Real blow back effect and break barrel action makes it looks and feels like a firearm rifle. Scope came with this rifle is not that great and needs lots of adjustments and still there is room for more adjustments. View thru the scope is also blurry and does not get adjusted. I also noticed that after firing 100+ pellets the noise levels is coming down and it feels more smoother. Overall is very good, but scope is poor.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    Awesome Little Rifle

I'd have to say that this little rifle is probably one of the best ones I've owned. It's super light, so it makes it easy to go into thick bush and hunt. It has the power to take out grouse and rabbits with one pellet @ 40 ft. Squirrels and other rodents it goes right through them. I keep the barrel clean and maintain it, it is really quiet after break in. All in all very pleased with this rifle...the only rifle in this FPS range that I found better is the Gamo CO2 pump, which you can't get any more. Also, one is best to fit this rifle with a better scope; the Center Point scope that comes with the rifle is passable, but not something great for zeroing in on targets. Never had any jams, other than some pellets that had a slight warp on the base, which came that way in the container...it wasn't the rifle. It's a sturdy, strong rifle, and has gone through all kinds of action without any malfunctions.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

I have a great time with this gun. It's very accurate even though the scope can be a bit blurry. I love that I can store somethings in the butt of the gun. my only complaint is I wish it had built in sights Incase the scope breaks. If u get this gun u will have a blast!!

    Great Rifle

Basically, for the price of what a barrel blank alone costs, you get a highly rated airgun in a very cool package. While it is understandable that the pneumatic ram is an unfamiliar device to many, this is the form of "spring" that is used in all the best break action rifles. Springs are still used as they still work just as well as they always have. The NPS has a lot of advantages, but one that plays well in Canada where we have a lot of land and hunting opportunities is the fact that while the ram should not be left compressed when not in use, the ram never takes a set or looses it's power no mater how long it is left compressed. This is regarded as a great feature for a hunting gun. And the ram is the preferred option for other uses too. Crosman has all parts in stock, if that is a worry. While I do not generally like "tacticool" stocks, this one has high functionality for an air rifle, and is a home run. If you like the look, all the better. Three issues: 1) The scope often does fail, but what we used to get was a pair of iron sights to use until we go the gun scoped, this is better. Scopes are 1/5 what they used to cost, and less still if one factors in the features level, and the value of the dollar. If you know the better scope you want, you might consider moving the provided scope to another rifle, or giving it to a friend. Spring guns are the harshest test for any scope, worse that shotguns and large bore rifles, so this scope will do OK in an easier environment. Should last for ever on a rimfire. 2) 495 fps, is the required sub PAL level (no license required). Keep in mind this does not mean the rifle is legal to shoot where you might wish to. Many towns ban air rifles, and even where legal, any complaint from a neighbour is likely to roll SWAT. Also, 495 in 17.7 caliber (.177") is really marginal for game. It will work up to about squirrel level, small rabbits are normally 500+. But a better choice is a 495 22 cal if you want to hunt. All this makes it perfect for everything else. 3) The trigger on Crosman guns is generally poorish. If you find this trigger difficult there are safe replacements and fixes. Check the internet. Seek competent help.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    Q: fps?

    5 Answers
    • A: When researching this or any airgun on the Internet, be sure you are not mistakenly reading U.S. specifications. U.S. law does not restrict the muzzle velocity of pellet and BB guns. Most 'high power airgun' models for sale in Canada are 'detuned' versions produced for our market with their muzzle velocity limited to 495 feet per second (fps). Canadian law states all airguns with a muzzle velocity above 500 fps are firearms. Why? To purchase and own firearms, you need a Possession and Acquisition License (PAL). Only licensed firearms dealers may sell firearms. Companies like Daisy and Crosman want to market to as many potential buyers as possible, and in as many stores as possible. Simply put, airguns with muzzle velocities over 500 fps are available in Canada - but only from a few licensed firearms dealers and only to people with a valid PAL.

    Q: Is the barrel rifled

    2 Answers
    • A: Yes it is rifled, and this caliber of Crosman rifle has a good reputation for barrel accuracy. Break actions take time to learn to shoot, but it isn't the barrel. Also, pellet guns are often picky as to ammo, and only perform well with good ammo. In this caliber if you go below 6-8 dollars/500 you should have a good reason. Crosman's Premium dome pellets are a good bet. Their other pellets less so. It would be better if they sold the domes in the cardboard boxes as well at CT, rather than the pointed since they tend to shoot worse. All that said, one can end up having to shoot other brands,

Q: hunting? what can i hunt with this?

    2 Answers
    • A: Very small or very close. for 17.7 caliber, at less than 500 fps you are looking at squirrel, small rabbits, rats, pigeons, grouse, etc... Where legal. You have to check your local rules. There are advantages to shooting sub PAL velocities, power just isn't one of them. For the same 495 fps, a 22 would pound home almost twice the energy. But the cheaper guns are hard to find in 22. Accuracy is critical, you just aren't going to be able to make good on marginal hits with this level of ammo. Accuracy means postage stamp in the CNS.
