No service support- avoid this engine

Only service centres are Timmins, Northbay and Garrison. Needless to say I can justify the drive. These motors suffer from lack parts support. Spoke with Coleman Powersports and Coleman Head Office… Avoid this engine.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Terrible , runs like a turtle

We bought this motor 2 years ago to push a 14 foot inflatable with hull. It's hard to start, it won't throttle up from 3-5. We look like turtles on the river. Bigger boats with smaller motors pass us . It never worked right from the day we bought it. We finally took it into a marine shop this past winter. Hopefully they did something to fix this peice of junk. Once last summer , for the first time in 2 years, the motor kicked and we moved like never before. However , that was very short lived and never happened since.

    Really happy with this.

Priced Mercury 4 strokes and this one news was about $300 less than a USED Merc so I thought I would take a chance. Took about 20 minutes to set it up (i.e. read the manual, add oil to the motor, straight gasoline to the tank). First time out it started on the third pull. Ran a little rough for about 15 minutes then smoothed out nicely. I followed the break-in instructions and in two seasons have had zero problems, so I've bought a second one for the kids' boat now that they are old enough. Another cottager on the lake was impressed enough to get one too.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    Great engine

Good outboard engine, been running for years. Good for lots of different types of boats and it's under 10hp, which makes the regulations to run it less.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    What a great buy

This is the first outboard I have purchased. I have been using an older Evinrude 5 HP of my dad's, up until now and it's days are numbered. I bought this Coleman motor on sale. Very easy to prepare as all I really had to do was add oil, not included. It's a four stroke so I put straight gas in the tank, included. I attached it to my 12' aluminum fishing boat and went to the lake. I attached the fuel line, included, and pushed off. It took 3 or 4 pulls to start and that was it. Once it warmed up I could put the throttle as low as it would go and it trolled like a pro. Very quiet too. This motor runs and feels like quality to me. I love not mixing gas and am very pleased with its performance. Once I get some more hours on it I will crank her up and see how well she can get moving. The manual has lot's of good info on operation, maintenance and storing. Our first run was on Father's Day. My son caught a fish. Couldn't have gone any better.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

Q: Does the motor use straight fuel or does it have to be mixed with oil

    • A: Just regular gasoline. No need to mix with oil. I did see a previous reviewer recommended only using Premium Gasoline so that may be a good tip. If you have not purchased this motor please read my reviews before making your decision.
