    Is now improved

A must have in a hiking kit. They improved the Swiss Flint by changing the week rounded plastic handle with a super strong rectangular one (Excellent) . They only thing left to change is that cheap hack saw blade striker with a better alternative. "I personally prefer using the back of my knife". *Nice strong hot spark's *Small enough to carry in pocket *New improve tough handle = Excellent product for the outdoor people

    Yes, I recommend this product.

DOES WHAT IT'S SUPPOSED TO DO

This Swiss steel does what it's supposed to do....start fires. Works great with petroleum jelly saturated cotton balls, fatwood shavings, and even fuels for my camp stoves...such as propane, denatured alcohol, fondue fuel so far. down side is the hacksaw striker that came with it is horrible for striking. the one i got had huge teeth that only gouged the heck out of the fire steel rod. so i ditched the striker and use the back edge of my knife instead. works great. honestly this is a great fire steel though i would recommend any fire steel for the outdoors and should always be kept on your person along with a few other necessities when venturing in the wilderness. overall for this specific one it works very well. picking up another one for my younger brother's BD gift.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

After 3 attempts, I still had not made fire and the flint came apart from the handle.

    Great!

II love using this flint, whenever I make fires I use it! The handle comes off very quickly, but i then used the handle as part of the saw. It works best with a knife, i also recomend buying A magnesium shaft. Without the magnesium i can make a fire in 3 minutes, with magnesium added (shaved pieces then struck by flint) it takes 30 secs. Very fun.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    works just fine

I found it to produce more sparks when struck with a knife rather than with the supplied steel. Also, lint from the dryer makes a great kindling.

    Yes, I recommend this product.
