Great tool for removing oil filters

Handcuffs type wrench better for tight spaces.

Used the Channellock 212 oil filter pliers for the first time a couple months ago, to remove a stuck oil filter on a friend's car. Just enough space to make it work. This was my first time doing an oil change. Not too hard but it was a bit messy, because I didn't notice the draining oil gradually missing the pan, so a lot of oil got on the floor. Replaced the oil drain bolt with the ValvoMax Quick Twist oil drain system (https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/valvomax-quick-twist-oil-drain-system-m14-1-50-1176667p.1176667.html), to make it easier and less messy for next time. Recently tried to use these pliers for my car, but the filter location was awkward. Perhaps the smaller Channellock 209 (https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/channellock-209-oil-filter-pvc-pliers-wrench-1-3-4-in-to-3-in-jaw-capacity-high-carbon-steel-9-in-0584509p.html) might have worked, if I had. Instead, I decided to pick-up a 31-piece kit from another store. The large oil filter sockets in this kit, though well-made, didn't work due to awkward location of filter. Luckily, the small handcuffs type adjustable universal oil filter wrench in the kit worked. The handcuffs type wrench is like a strap or band wrench made of 4 articulating metal jaws with aggressive teeth. Might run about 11 bux on the behemoth online store. Also installed the ValvoMax Quick Twist oil drain system (https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/valvomax-quick-twist-oil-drain-system-m12-1-75-1176668p.1176668.html). In this case, it was not just to make it easier for next time, but the last time I got an oil change, I was told that the oil drain plug was cross-threaded and to keep an eye out for oil leaks. This is also why I'm also finally doing my own oil changes. Fortunately, the ValvoMax went on tight. Just in case, I also had a single over-sized oil drain plug on hand, which supposedly can correct for cross-threading. This plug/ bolt is stamped S.O. for single-oversize on the head of the plug/ bolt. Picked this up at yet another store. One note, I changed the oil one day, and then changed the filter the next day, without draining the oil again. Had to Google whether this is possible, without making a huge mess. In my case, it is. Just about a filter's worth of oil came out with the filter. Apparently this works in most cases.

Yes, I recommend this product.
