Neglect can't stop it

I bought this when I moved into an off grid cabin in cape breton in october six years ago. I used it steady belt for a year and then moved and didn't so much as look at it for two years. Started on the first pull. Yet again, I moved a while ago and hadn't looked at it. Power went out this morning. All I did was fill the gas tank, started first pull. I have no idea the last time I changed the oil. It was sitting empty for probably two years. I got it on no interest payments on sale for 550. One of the best purchases I've ever made. At this point I wouldn't know how to kill it.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Difficult Start

Bought this before Fiona, ran like a champ. Very quiet and with conservative use will do most everything I need it to do in my house. Now 2 years on since date of purchase I have enough experience to suggest that a Briggs & Stratton may not be the best choice for occasional use. Very difficult start, using Quick Start helps most times but now requires the spark plug to be pulled and heated/ burnt to get it to fire up. Engine not running as smooth as before but still adequate. Shop around for better.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Great little generator

Bought this second hand for backup power to double my capacity. I have a Honda EU2200i but I prefer the B&S P2200. Starts easier, ran like a champ for 9 days during Hurricane Fiona. The Honda did great as well but had a few issues that required some time and investigation which was pretty annoying and a bit stressful. Plus, being used, I didn’t mind running the B&S outside in the rain and poor weather. It never missed a beat. Very happy with its performance.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Q: I verified that my furnace is connected to a 15 A breaker on the electric panel. Can I assume this 2200/1700W unit would run my furnace blower without a problem then?

  • A: We have a 20 year old high efficiency Rheem brand gas furnace. This generator is able to run it and it barely powers up to do so. However, I found that because this generator is of the floating ground type, I had to connect the neutral and ground wires otherwise the furnace would only run for less than a minute before it shut down. I purchased a 3 prong plug and wired the neutral (larger blade) to the ground pin and plugged this into one of the two receptacles on the generator. The other receptacle I used to run an extension cord to the furnace where I had installed a plug. The furnace must see neutral and ground at zero potential.

Q: Weekend camper..wondering if this generator will run a 1500 watt heater...and a 1500 coffee maker...and a small electric stove 2 burners. Ty.

1 Answer
  • A: No, it won't run more than one at a time. The total generator output required is the sum of the rated watts, of all the appliances being powered at the same time. Just the two 1500 Watt appliances (heater + coffee maker) would need a 3000 Watt generator, if you ran them at the same time. You can run one at a time, assuming the electric stove draws less than 1700 Watts. See attached Wattage ref guide for how to calculate the generator output needed. Heating elements do not draw more current when they start, so there is no additional surge Watts. Product # 3992900 is rated as 1700 Watts "running".

Translate with Google
1 Answer

Translate with Google
1 Answer

Q: Will this run my rv air conditioner

1 Answer
  • A: It depends on the air conditioner start up and running watts requirement. The only accurate way to determine, is to measure the power draw (starting and running) of AC unit.

Translate with Google
1 Answer
