Who will be using it and where?

Before you start looking at all the basketball options that are available, you should consider what size of basketball you require and where you plan to use your basketball, indoor or outdoor.

Composite Basketballs

Composite basketballs are ideal for both indoor and outdoor courts. Although they feel like leather, they’re actually produced of other materials. Use for advanced performance.

Official Size

Official size basketballs weigh 20 to 22 ounces and have a circumference of 29.5 inches — the official size and weight of basketballs used in the NBA. These basketballs are ideal for males aged 13 and over.

Mid-Size

Mid-size basketballs weigh 18 to 20 ounces and have a circumference of 28.5 inches — the official size and weight of basketballs used in the WNBA. These basketballs are ideal for males aged 9 to 13 and females aged 9 and over.

Youth-Size

Youth size basketballs weigh 16 to 18 ounces and have a circumference of 27.5 inches. These basketballs are ideal for kids aged 9 and under.

Carcass

The carcass provides structure, shape and protection for the inner components of the ball as well as air retention. This is found in composite basketballs.
