What are the different types of fire extinguisher?

Rechargeable fire extinguishers are the most common type, can be refilled after use or topped up before they become ineffective, and come in many sizes. Disposable fire extinguishers are designed for one-time use and are often very compact.

What fire extinguisher do I need?

If you need a small extinguisher for your RV or boat, a disposable one may be perfect, but rechargeable extinguishers come in a range of sizes to suit most spaces.

Where should I keep fire extinguishers in my home?

You should have a fire extinguisher in your kitchen as that is the most likely place for a fire to start. Having an extinguisher near any fuel-burning appliance or close at hand around flammable materials is a good idea.

How many fire extinguishers do I need?

For small homes where you can bring the extinguisher to the scene of a fire in seconds, one is enough. For larger homes, it's worth having several extinguishers so there's never one too far away in case of an accident.

Additional information for residents of Quebec only: The regular annual rate for persons applying for the Triangle Mastercard and the Triangle World Elite Mastercard is 21.99% for cash transactions and related fees and 21.99% for all other charges. The minimum payment is the sum of (a) the greater of: (i) interest and fees shown on your statement + $10; or (ii) 5% of the New Balance, excluding amounts on special payment plans, (b) any balance over your credit limit, (c) any amounts past due not included in (b) above, and (d) the amount of any equal payments plan instalments then due.
