I bought this vacuum along with the shark 15.6V one to compare for myself. Both were on sale--Bissell $20 off, and the Shark 40% off--to be $39.99 each. I have to say that the 5 Volts of power difference really makes a difference. On the Bissell, the erasor end is good for deep carpets that you manually scrape, which gets sucked up, but on car seats or non-carpeted surfaces, the pink rubber nipples can actually leave marks (it did on my car seats anyways). On the other hand, the Shark has a roller attachment that scrapes and picks up surface pet hairs automatically. But it wouldn't really pick up hairs deep in the carpet fibers. But these are quick clean ups, not deep cleansing carpet cleaners. Both require 24 hrs initial charge, then 16 afterwards. I haven't tested to see which one actually lasts longer (my guess is Bissell due to the smaller motor and no attachments that use additional power). On the Bissell, the retractable nozzle is a good idea that you don't lose it, but if you apply a little force, the nozzle gets pushed back into the housing, and you have to pull it back out again, which is annoying. The shark comes with rolling brushes, and a removable nozzle, but no compartments or clips to store them, which may cause you to lose them. The opening of the vacuum is bigger on the shark as well. One area Bissell excelled more than the Shark is in their packaging. Bissell was nicely wrapped in bags, taped, and secured. So was the Shark, but no bag on the unit itself, and honestly, when I first unboxed it, I thought I bought a previously opened/used item b/c of the packaging. But it's only in the box until you get home, so it's a moot point.

I have a 2 year old and a very hairy cat so having a hand vacuum is a necessity in my house. I bought a different hand vacuum and ended up bringing it back the next day cause it barely did the job. When I found this one I was a little hesitant but after my first use I am hooked! It picks up everything!!! All the pet dander, all the child food spills....as well as the parent. It's a great product with incredible suction.
