Was so tired of lifting and seeing the bottle... and realizing we should have hot water on the ready... we had to try this water cooler for our new kitchen (and actually before it, because the really old one we had completely died!) The hot water is HOT. The cold water is perfect for us on the default setting it came with. The pump runs if you use the room temp water or more than some of the other water, but it's expected and doesn't bother us. It has to make noise! It's not bothersome for us. It doesn't do it all the time! Don't know why there are so many complaints about it. Once fully in use, it makes a metallic click and 'heating noise' when it needs to heat again. It hums when it's in the process of cooling. It only pumps when needed. Sometimes it's completely silent. Love the blue nightlight too. Complained to the help-line that the manual and quick setup guides are both very lacking in words and useful info. I hate interpreting pictures! Expected the manual to say something about the UV but it doesn't. The 'On' light on the cooler seems to just indicate it also UV protects the water dispensed. Manuals should tell you about the water cooler. There wasn't a manual to be found online before order, so I just hoped... and was disappointed as usual these days with the product manual. But, setup was fine. Hot was ready in 10 minutes. It just took a long time (like hours?) for cold to be ready for the first time. And it took a whole lot more than the setup explains to get rid of the vinegar water. It really wasn't gone until I'd used up a whole 5 gallon jug. So, didn't drink much of that whole bottle... but what's 6 bucks? Everything else has been great. Our son thinks it dispenses way too slowly though. The hot is a slower flow, but room and cool are fine for us, but not our son. He'd rate the cooler a 1 star just for that. It could definitely have a quicker flow rate. There should be a setting for that on water dispensers!!

Cooler works well. I had read reviews that said it was very noisy but that is not the case. Enjoy the extra room for filling bottles, etc.
