A: Thermacell products should not be used around open food. Turn your repeller off while dining.

A: There are no PMRA or other governing agency use restrictions for use around children. The science and data on our ingredients indicate that they should not be of concern, if used according to label instructions, for people or pets. The refills should be stored in a secure location out of reach for children. Thermacell's extensive data is thoroughly reviewed by the PMRA and multiple other regulatory agencies around the world in the product approval process. This review process includes testing in extreme scenarios modeled after use with adults, children, toddlers, and infants to assess the risk of exposure with repeated use for immediate, medium, and long-term impacts. You should always use according to the label instructions. If you have questions about using the product around your children, you should contact your physician.

Q: Are Thermacell products safe for bees?

A: The US EPA and WHO have concluded that there is a reasonable certainty that no harm will result to bees or other terrestrial wildlife if using the product according to label instructions. The mosquito repellent vapors produced by our product rapidly disseminate in the air and little of the repellent ingredient falls on surfaces such as surrounding foliage where bees might land. Our mosquito products are also most often used in the evening when bees are returning to their nest (also true of butterflies and other foraging insects). If you raise bees, avoid using repellent in the immediate vicinity of the bee hives.

A: All of the fuel products use the same refills. I am not sure which smaller Thermacell's you are speaking to? The Patio Shield Lantern that is referenced uses the fuel cartridges (butane).

A: We'd never make a product that we wouldn't use around our own pups and cats. Just make sure to follow the instructions, and make sure to keep the repellent mats away from cats.
