Sorry to hear the MantleClip didn't work for you. For most mantels 1-inch to 3-inches thick, this is the perfect solution, but there are always exceptions given all the various shapes, sizes and designs of mantels. Thanks for trying the product, sorry it didn't work out for you.

I don't have a mantle but my kitchen counter is about the same thickness and has a part that sticks out. I only used one clip for a large-ish Christmas stocking and it was sturdy and carried the weight with no fear of falling. I have other stocking holders and they either have too small of a holder or they feel like they might tip if the sock is too full.
