Bulb died in 9 months

I bought these and initially they were great. BUT after 9 months one bulb died. I thought it was just a bad bulb. But now again at 13 months, the other bulb died. Thank goodness Sylvania has a warranty and I got a replacement set. My OEM headlight bulbs lasted for at least 5 years, so why are these ones so crummy?
