I bought one and then immediately bought two more. These are BASIC and for this reason they are GOOD. There is no convoluted parts that are designed. It's so easy to open one handed and you get really good at it. No buttons, latches, etc. and it's metal, sturdy. And so easy to customize . Over time the latches springs break. Party due to little kids playing with them. That's one thing that could be improved. But proof that you don't want an over engineered design.

Not “one hand release “ Bottom latch stays latched … what a silly design.

Not Baseboard Compatible

Purchased this to go at the top and bottom of stairs. Unfortunately the gate requires a flat and flush mounting area on each side, as it does not allow for a baseboard trim, meaning that if we were to install it we would have to mount it above the trim, so 4"+ from the floor. Will have to be returned and look for a unit with adjustable hinge locations.
