A: Hi Arnie, Great question! Our Universal Spray Paint would be suitable for aluminum doors. Make sure to clean the doors well and lightly scuff sand any smooth areas for maximum adhesion.

Q: Is this good for a slightly rusty surface? I know it is rustoleum but doesn't specify if it has the same properties as the rust specific paint.

A: Hi Gerald, Thank you for reaching out! While our Universal All Surface Spray Paint can be applied to a slightly rusted surface, any loose rust must be sanded off first. Remove loose paint and rust with a wire brush or GATOR® sandpaper. Also, the good news is this paint has a rust preventative formula as well.

Q: Does this product have a smooth finish? I'd like to change up my faucet. Will it work on metals and plastics? Should I sand it all first?

A: Hi ammateurpainter, Our Universal Metallic Spray Paint does produce a smooth finish. However, this is also dependent on the surface itself. This product can be applied to metal. However, some plastics made of polyethylene are manufactured in a way that may hinder maximum paint adhesion.

A: The Metallic Spray paint will not adhere to plastic without a primer. We can recommend the Zinsser Bulls-Eye 123. Note that the Metallic spray paints have some flexibility, but the paint film can break if the surface is too soft.

Q: Is it Dishwasher & food safe? Rust-Oleum Universal Metallic Spray Paint - once dry, is it safe to come in contact with food and placed into dishwasher? Once the paint dries,is it non-toxic and will there be any odor?

A: Our Rust-Oleum Metallic paints are not dishwasher safe, and have not been submitted for testing with the CFIA (Canadian Food Inspection Agency). While non-CFIA approved paints cannot legally be called "food safe", our paints are non-toxic once dry.
