Muriatic acid cleaner works well but be cautious

When carefully following instructions, this "mild" acidic cleansing liquid really does an excellent job of removing smoke and creosote etc stains from fireplace stone. Caution needs to be taken in general (mask, gloves, etc.) but also in covering the areas that you don't want etched. The muriatic acid may seep under a loosely taped plastic sheet and this will leave etch lines into the surface that will be difficult and time consuming to sand away.

I have a newer boat and it seems to just sit at my dock for most of the summer and when I take the boat out for the winter it has a water scum on it , last year I tried CLR and that didnt work worth a darn so I you tubed Muratic acid for cleaning a alumanum/painted surface of boat and there was mixed reveiws so I thoght what the heck and bought it and diluted about 50% and it worked perfectly for me and was so quick and effortless basically spray on and wipe down and rinse , done

A: Muriatic acid will not affect wood. It will react with lime based stone like marble, concrete cement, and ferrous metals (Steel and iron) not aluminum or much else. Don't breath the fumes too much.

A: Yes it’s the same as hydrochloric acid but not sure about using it to unclog drains. I used it to clean oily/grease stained floors.

Q: Can it be used on stainless steel? I was wondering if it could be used in a water distiller as a descaler. Some people use Citric Acid but Canadian Tire doesn't seem to sell any.
