A: In response to Peter - Wires do indeed have a power rating, usually identified by their awg. If you use too thin a wire for a 1500 watt hair dryer (i.e., 100 volts x 15 amps) the wires could very well overheat and burn up. Try running a 22 gauge or higher speaker wire between a set of speakers and a 500 watt amp and see what happens. So yes, wires are rated by the amount of current that they can carry.

A: Speaker wire does not carry an electrical rating . There is no wattage rating available for 18 gauge wire.

Works great for our wired surround sound system and TV. The transparent insulation actually makes this less visible along the wall. If your estimates of wire needed are tight, buy the next roll size up - better to have a bit of slack than too short.

Great product for the traditional wired applications

This product works well for speakers as advertised, but I also use it for reconditioning electric lamps where the old cords are deteriorating. One thing that would be good would be a smaller package or simply sell it by the foot.. As most people don't need 100 feet of this stuff. So we play the old game of spend more than is necessary and hold on to the balance or simply throw the excess away. or recycle it. ??? more waste....

18 gauge wir3, quite standard i think for decent quality speaker wire. Great for home budget speakers that aren't exposes to the outdoor elements.
