Q: Can this be powered up only when you are using the water? I am looking for something for an off grid camp with solar power, but not enough power to keep the inverter on 24/7. Can it be turned off and on as water is needed without damaging the unit?

A: No, the unit is not designed for repeated ON/OFF cycles and it can damage the unit.

A: No, it will not. We ended up attaching a 3m under sink water filter that does the trick with our well water. The Rainfresh is fantastic at filtering water once it's been through our softener then gets UV treatment.

A: The Accugard UV System (62-2027) kills/inactivates disease-causing microorganisms like bacteria, viruses, coliform, E. coli etc and reduces sediment, dirt, rust and other particles down to 5 micron. It does not remove lead from drinking water. For lead reduction, you can install Rainfresh TWIST Undersink Drinking Water system (62-1086) or the TWIST Dual Undersink System (62-1087). Both these systems will also reduce over 50 different chemicals, parasitic cysts, chlorine, taste and odour. The Dual unit (62-1087) also reduces chloramines. Both units come with a chrome faucet and all fittings necessary for undersink installation. The replacement cartridges (62-1088 and 62-1089) are also available at Canadian Tire.

UV seemed to be a return.

Works good. Don't understand when I bought brand new there was t-tape on one end already that looked like someone had put in beforehand. As when they come new it shouldn't if been there at all. Box did looked like it was previously opened. All parts and everything was there and it works as it should. Easy to install. Like the unit. Customer is happy.

Excellent unit for ease of installation

Excellent system.

We used to have perfect water from our well then a pipe cracked and we had to have it dug up and repaired. I guess some dirt got into the system when they cut and spliced a new piece of pipe in, since then we had failed water tests. Added this filter and UV - water is again 0-0 . Very happy. Has a nice countdown feature to remind when UV bulb needs to be replaced. Highly recomment.
