Prestone® DOT 4 Motor Vehicle Brake Fluid delivers enhanced performance vs. DOT standards, benefitting all vehicles calling for DOT 4. This synthetic fluid starts with a higher dry boiling point than the DOT minimum standard to protect against overheating, brake fade and performance decline due to water absorption. This extended life (50,000 mile) fluid is also formulated to prevent corrosion of all metals within the braking system. This formula is safe to use in all DOT 4 braking systems (ABS, disc or drum) and can mix with any DOT 4 fluid. It is recommended to only use the DOT fluid specified for your car, as using a different DOT product can affect the boiling point or replacement interval if the wrong fluid is used.

A: The Dry boiling point for Prestone DOT 4 brake fluid is 258 degrees C (496 degrees F). The wet boiling point will eventually reach the minimum spec of 168 degrees C (334 degrees F). With varying outside factors the reaching of the wet boiling point will vary but with Prestone’s above DOT standard dry boiling point it will take the fluid longer to reach this wet boiling point, increasing the life of the fluid.

A must upgrade for all my cars

I always upgrade my cars to Dot 4 brake fluid and my motorcycles, 4 wheelers, etc to dot 5. I am a spirited driver on the road and a very aggressive driver off road. Given my driving style, I can say with certainty that upgrading to higher temp, higher rated brake fluid is a must performance upgrade for all my vehicles. Cdn tire always seems to have what I need and usually at the best price.

Convenient

I find the brake fluid prices at Canadian Tire to be higher than most automotive stores. However, I was already at the store grabbing something else so the small price different was nearly negligible when you factor in travel time to another store. Plus when you stack your offers on the app you can get more Canadian Tire money which balances it out. Used one full bottle and a whisper of another bottle to replace the brake fluid in my wife’s car. One more maintenance item checked off the list.

Hard to rate brake fluid, After flushing out old dirty brake fluid and I replaced it with clean new Prestone Brake fluid. The new brake fluid worked as expected.
