While the tire is certainly versatile enough for year-round use, the specialized tread pattern and rubber compounds really come into their own in slippery conditions. A set of four deep grooves help to expel water rapidly for excellent traction on snow or when driving downhill, while the tire’s robust casing provides high stability and control on even the most challenging winter roads. pirelli winter tires scorpion snow and ice

very very noisy. if you can handle the noise on dry or wet road, than it is very good on snow. I would never buy it again unless I lived in Alaska. Tooooo noisy for Toronto winters, where snow covered roads are not frequent events.

Better than the car!

Seriously awesome tire, I had one car on studs and another on these, these are better than Arctic claw studded, hands down. I need not fear anything mother nature and the highways agency could throw at me. Expensive? I do not have another un-studded tire to compare against, but they set the bar high. It's your money, but these must take something seriously awesome to beat.

BEST WINTER TIRES EVER

I live in Algonquin Park and have had these tires on my Audi Allroad (as heavy as a large Jeep Cherokee) and oh my gosh....wow. Traction in 4 inches of snow on good corners up to 110km/hr without slippage. Through slush and over ice no problems. We get a lot of snow up here so we are putting them on our new Honda Element. Over kill...NO...these stop very fast and are very precise. I get 30,000 km per set or 3 winters of 10,000 km. Mostly snow December to March driving. Tried several other brands over the last 12 years, these are FAV.
