Q: If DOT 4 is classified as DOT 4 mainly because it has a higher boiling point than the DOT 3, how is it that these same brand DOT 3 (260 degrees C) products have a higher boiling point than the same brand DOT 4 (230 degrees C)? I find this very confusing.

A: Dot 3 and Dot 4 are different formulas- temperature for each formula can vary. Please consult your owners manual for the correct DOT brake fluid to use.
