I bought this model because it's quiet, no noise. Well well, it started to rattle after two months use :( impossible to sleep with that rattling noise. It was on sale....... humm? that explains it :(

No, I do not recommend this product.

No longer produces any heat

I bought this heater a few years ago but only started using on a regular basis this winter. During the first few months of use the unit produced good heat but it stopped working after a couple of months. Now it hardly generates any heat. Very disappointed in the quality of this product.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Solid, quiet heater, thermostat is poor

I've owned numerous heaters and bought two of these. I find that oil-based heaters are best because they're quiet and seem very safe. The only caveat with this heater is that it doesn't hold a precise temperature. However I usually keep it at 18C and it helps if the room gets a little chilly and doesn't get too warm. On colder days I put it at 21C, which produces more heat and I only use the 600W setting (lowest). So far so good, I just wish they'd have an accurate temp reading...that's why I gave it 4/5 stars.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Steady, quiet heat

We purchased this heater to heat our basement when we want to spend some time down there. The heater appears well made, it looks appealing and so far works well. As with other oil filled heaters, it takes a while to warm up but then provides steady heat with no noise.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Questions

1 - 10 of 21 Questions

Q: I just bought one of these and the instruction say to put it 3 feet away from any objects. Seems strange as not that hot and all reviews say they are very safe, not likely to catch nearby objects on fire.

  • A: I used mine in a trailer where there isn’t 3 feet of clearance anywhere except on the bed. I made sure it wasn’t touching anything and I had no problem with fire. Also I had the heat on high because trailers are freezing in November.

Q: is this unit expensive on hydro.

3 Answers
  • A: I use mine in conjunction with other heat sources, so it's difficult to isolate individual running costs. Based on my winter vs summer hydro bills it is definitely within an affordable range. My pre-purchase research showed several neutral sources agreeing that the most cost effective electric heat source is an oil filled rad.

Q: Can it be used in a RV running off a power bank power supply 500W (jackery)? if so, How long or how much power does it consume ?

3 Answers
  • A: I bought 2 of these heaters specifically for a 30 feet trailer with minimal insulation. They were more than adequate. Worked with minimal power intake. Less expensive to run than a hot air heater with fan

Q: Will heater turn back on after power outage ? And will it return to the settings you set.

3 Answers
  • A: No it doesn't turn back on as we find out every time we have too many accessories on in our 5th wheel. We live full time in our 5th wheel and we find this heater great and every time the breaker goes off we turn it back on and it does keep the settings last used.

Q: Hey I’m looking to purchase this heater to keep in my 10/20 shed/garage insulated just to keep it at 10/15 degrees well not in there as I have a wood stove if I’m going to be out there. Will this unit work for that?

2 Answers
  • A: I don't think this will work for you because the lowest temp setting is 18°C. When set to 18°C the actual room temp about 20-21°C, way above your target of 10-15°C.

Q: Can I leave this unit plugged in continuously during winter as a backup heater at a desired temperature incase my central gas heating system failed?

2 Answers
  • A: I haven't seen anything in the Manual saying you shouldn't. Not sure why you'd want to have it plugged in continuously if its role is back-up. Important to bear in mind is that the manual does say the unit is intended as heat source for a relatively small space or supplemental heat for a larger one, and is not designed nor should be used to replace central heating for a home. I use mine for supplemental, including 'spot heat' when I'm economizing on my main source and wheel the rad next to where I'm sitting - and it's perfect for that.

Q: My heater works great but every now and again, the temperature setting blinks on and off, is this ok?

2 Answers
  • A: This is a best guess - as you're probably aware this event isn't covered in the manual. It might be that the achieved temp is very close to reaching the selected temp. One way to check would be to either select the next lower or higher temp. If the blinking stops, could be a good guess. If it continues, contact vendor or manufacturer as per any instructions provided. NB There's a limited 1-year warranty. BTW, I'm assuming the unit's plug is firm in the source socket.

Q: This is making the room temperature go up to 26 even when the heater is set on 20 or lower! Is the adjustable thermostat not supposed to cut it off once the desired temperature has been reached?

2 Answers
  • A: Agreed. I would definitely not count on the adjustable thermostat being accurate. There are just too many variables for it to take account of (remember that this is radiant heating not convection). There is definitely a difference between the different temperature settings though. At 18C (the lowest setting) my basement office gets plenty warm when the door is closed. Anything above the 24C setting though and I am baking myself. My advice is to play around with different settings, positions, doors open/closed, until you get something just right. It is consistent once you get it right, so the temperature setting is precise, but not accurate.
