My son learned to ride on this bike and loved it for a good 3 years till he outgrew it. Great little bike.

Brakes

As far as the above review giving 1 star out of 5 solely due to the brakes, any kids bike you look at with no hand brakes will not have a free spinning back wheel, that is how you stop the bike. If you note, even in the picture, there is no hand brake, that would be the first indication that this is not a manufacturing problem as outlined above, but simply how some kids bike models normally work. More expensive models will have a hand brake and free spinning rear wheel.

Poorly made

Poorly made. The crank is hard to turn, and when you stop turning the pedals the back wheel does not spin freely. We checked out 2 at one location. The second bike also had a warped back tire. We went to the other location in town and had one brought out from the back. It had the same problem with it being hard to turn the pedals, and not spinning freely when you stop pedaling. Seems like there is something wrong with the way this bike is manufactured. Check it out closely before you buy it to make sure you don't have the same problem.
