Q: why does mastercraft say larger tap for bolt? individual Mastercraft Tap (e.g. 3/8) pull down list says 7/16 for 3/8 -- why isn't a 3/8 tap for a 3/8 bolt? Also, thread pitch for 7/16 doesn't match thread pitch for 3/8 -- i'm confused pls help

A: If I'm not mistaken (its possible) the (7/16"-20NF for 3/8") means for 7/16" bolt use a SAE 3/8" drill bit. That's the way I read it and the closest drill bit for tapping a 7/16" bolt hole using SAE would be a SAE 3/8" drill bit. Hope I'm not steering you wrong.

A: The size of our existing SKU#58-7132 is 1/8-27NPT, and after checking with the vendor, the size 1/2x18 die that customer is looking for is a non-standard size, they don’t have this size available.
