exactly what I was looking for to sharpen knives. Before use you have to make sure the stone has been immersed in water until there are no more bubbles coming up from the stone.

Decent but high-maintenance if precision grinding is needed

Wears down quickly if sharpening in the same place on the block. When ground flat via diamond-encrusted plate, works decently for maintaining chisels, but quickly loses flatness. Bamboo shoe fits inconsistently. One block fits snugly. The other block is smaller and fits too loosley, sliding around inside of the shoe.
