This was purchased to furnish my son's kitchen in college. I imagine it'll do well as long as he uses it as it is intended to be used. It's magnetic--his mother expressly told me that the cookware I bought would need to be magnetic. She said that the hot plates allowed in my son's residence must have an automatic safety cut-off switch interconnected with the heating element's power supply ...and it's a magnetic switch.
