Purchased on of these a couple of years ago and decided that I needed a second unit for my man cave.
The battereis in the remote has lasted about a year and except for having to haull a ladder to the pole that is it mounted on, the batteries are easy to change once the sensor unit is out of the pipe.
I has some concerns about the sturdiness of the wind propeller being damaged by wet heavy snow or sleet, but so far have had no problems.

Thermometer and barometer are both off when compared to known good instruments. Outside temp is off by almost 2°C. But it seems consistent.
This is an entertaining tool, good for tracking trends and is close enough for most purposes.

Q: The SPECIFICATION section does not indicate that the unit uses a “5 Volt DC adapter”, but does indicate the unit requires “3 AAA Alkaline batteries”. Can the ‘display unit’ function fully with ONLY the AAA batteries? I do not have access to 120 Volts

A: I don’t have access to hydro (120 Volts) Using an inverter and a car battery would work - I could use a small solar panel to top up the battery but I’m unsure as to how much power the AC adapter would draw, thus how long a good deep cell battery would last.

A: Display works fine on batteries, just have to touch button on top to view screen. I have never plugged mine in. Batteries last about one year.

A: je ne peu pas répondre a la question le mien est sur le courent de la maison , mais pour les batteries a l extérieur il on durer 1.5 année j ai du les replacer une foie après une tempête je suis très satisfait

Q: Why does the outdoor temperature and wind indicator work for a day or two, stop for a number of hours , then begin working again. The unit is only 2 months old, and contains new, good quality batteries

A: Power the Weather Station: 1. Insert AC adapter into the outlet and into the weather station 2. Insert three AAA batteries into the weather station (optional). 3. After 15 minutes, mount the sensor outside (position Wind Sensor). Make sure your wind sensor is within 330ft (100meters) range (without any wall, glass obstructions) from the display. Keep display 6 feet or more away from electronics (cordless phones, televisions, routers, etc) to avoid frequency interference. **If your weather station is not displaying wind details, hold the DOWN button on the display for 5 seconds to begin Search for sensor. A: Actually I have two of these units and really enjoy their information. One of the anamometers got heavy rain in the battery compartment and rusted and stopped transmitting. I linked its base to the new weather station and now have two fully functioning displays.
