Smoke/CO detector

Not a great replacement for old Kidde systems, as it requires a replacement harness to make it work with previous wiring. It is not user friendly as the back up battery compartment requires you to dismantle the wiring connecton and then break off a plastic tab in order to even open the battery compartment. The old system allowed access to the battery from the front wirh a simple push button release. No dismantling required. Newer does not always mean better. This product proves that.

Q: Does it contain the conversion pigtail in the package to connect it to the previous wiring?

A: All the new Kidde models will not work with the old wiring harness (all alamrs come with the required hardware to isntall). ULC changes June 2024 mandated a change in power supply and the engineering changed the format.
