A: We have a dog that she’d like crazy. The iRobot® Roomba® Plus 4020 has a small basket and picks up some (very little) dog hair but has trouble automatically ejecting it into the base unit. 1. We sweep up as much hair as possible. 2. I have to pause the robot every few minutes to remove any hair in the robot catch basket and the section to the basket. I don’t mind as I rather empty the robot catch basket before it gets to the base unit as the base unit uses disposible vacuume bag that is very small and expensive. Note: There is a iRobot made specifically for pet hair but it was not available when we purchased our unit.

A: This answer was direct from iRobot. I understand you picked up a new robot from Canadian Tire. You bought it thinking that it was the new Roomba 405, but it was the model 4020. Let me help you with this. No worries, you are right, the model Roomba 4020 is the same as Roomba 405, Canadian Tire is one of the authorized resellers, and they only change the model of the robot as a retailer. It is the same robot, same performance, same accessories, the only difference is the model number. That is the reason why you cannot find information related to 4020, only the 405. Actually, they have all the specifications of the Roomba 405 on their website

I really like this machine, it's my 1st iRobot Roomba I even named it "YAYA". with a very busy schedule with work and I have a kid at home who always snacking every time, every where. promise you it helps a lot! packaging is good, but when I pull it out the box I was so amazed how big it is! and then no assembly required. which is I liked! easy and straight forward instructions. I scheduled it to vacuum and mops on specific time of the week and parts of the house and it will do it's thing. I don't know why I waited this long until I finally decided to get it. but it's worth it.

Reboot every time

Honestly you will be rebooting this vacuum every time you want to use it. Once if your lucky but a communication error will cause you to reboot three times in a row. Customer service is terrible. They blame this error in maintenance and refuse to replace anything unless I go on a video call and open the machine while they watch. Crazy.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Does the job as per set routine and performance is good overall. There are some issues when robot looses wifi connection and stops in the middle of routine and you would have to wait or rest wifi settings. Otherwise it’s been 2 months of free vacuuming the house workhouse getting off the couch. Only things you would have to do is clear the area of big objects and small ones which can be sucked into rooms and then you need to Clean the brush. Otherwise happy vacuuming

Performs as expected, but not life changing

Does a fine job. Certainly not the most advanced robot/vac mop combo, but then again it’s not the most expensive. It seems to have some navigation issues where it will get stuck for a while, or keep bumping into the same obstacle over and over, but eventually it sorts itself out. In terms of cleaning performance, it is good for light to medium cleans. Vacuums up debris easily, mopping is alright for lighter messes but struggles with anything too heavy. Overall, it performs as expected and would recommend.
