Bad Design

The claims of this unit humidifying entire homes is ridiculous. If you pull out the filter from the filter chamber you'll see there's only barely one inch of water in the base of the filter chamber. This is supposed to wet an entire filter. I have two hydrometers and they have never got above 33 in a very small room. Also add $20 a pop for the filters (all the aftermarket filters are garbage) plus water conditioner and this humidifier will cost you over $300/year to run !!!

As soon as cold weather hit my household was plagued with nose bleeds and static shocks. While this humidifier had trouble keeping up on very cold days, it definitely helped. It is quite quiet, especially at low & medium speeds. We set ours on a carpet scrap to further muffle the sound. The biggest problem is even with “softened” water, the evaporator filter becomes caked with minerals (calcium?) and the unit is ineffective. I purchased a second filter & now alternately clean both with a vinegar soak overnight. So far so good.
