Installed on the door frame all the way the studs using longer fasteners. It's sturdy. Material is great, it's just the same on the big name brand.

Excellent value. Only quibble I'd have is that once you have the bar extended into the installed position, you have about 4inches of just bar to grab onto at the one end... the foam padding doesn't extend for its full length. Still 5 stars though.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Q: Do you have to drill any holes in the doorway? I'm looking for a pull up bar for a small apartment. I don't have an electric drill. I weigh less than 120lbs.

2 Answers
  • A: The correct answer is yes, it does require that you drill holes into your door frame, I bought this today not realizing you had to mount it to the door frame and am now stuck with something I wont use.

Q: Is the bar twist and locked to the door frame or do you have to use the mounting brackets?

2 Answers
  • A: The bar was not designed to be used without the mounting brackets. The end caps are hardened concave plastic, which are not conducive to either the condition of your door frame or the bar's ability to stay in place. If you are an apartment dweller such as myself and are looking for a chin up bar that does not require altering the structure of your unit, this is not the one.

Q: the product specs say it can hold up to 300 lbs. Can you add more weight to the bar? It's only about 3 lbs. I'm looking for a weight bar about 40 lbs max. is this adjustable and can add weights?

1 Answer
  • A: The Goodlife Chin-Up and Sit-Up Bar is not a bar used to hold plate weights, it’s a bar you use in your doorway to do chin-up exericses and 300-lbs is the maximum capacity it can hold for an individual using the bar. If you would like a weight bar, I would refer you to Cap Barbell Standard Threaded Bar, 6-ft (084-0784), which is a 6-ft bar that can hold up to 220-lbs of weight.
