Questions

Q: I have recently bought this box fan, I noticed on the cord it reads: Use only with a fuse rated 2.5 Amperes, 125-Volts, what does that mean? Is it a requirement to add a fuse or is this only optional?

3 Answers
  • A: There is a fuse in the cord plug. If you have to replace it that is the fuse size you need.

Q: How does one attach an air filter to this box fan?

3 Answers
  • A: Make a box with four 20” x 20” MPR1900 filters for the sides. Be sure the arrows on filters point inwards. Use the cardboard from the fan box for the bottom. Tape all edges with duct tape so no air leaks (I like white duct tape). Put the fan on top with dial on top and air flow pointing up. Duct tape so not leaks between filters and fan. Make a “shroud” with the other side of the box the fan came in. It will cover the top of the fan except for a hole cut in the middle which is 15.75 inches in diameter. This shroud will optimize the performance of your Corsi-Rosenthal Box. Pro Tips: Shop around for filter prices. Usually cheaper in bundles. Buy the big name brand. There tends to be a big difference. Use little pieces of duct tape to hold the filters together until you can do the full taping. Congratulations: You now have a Highly effective air purifier to remove COVID and smoke from the air!!!

Q: I'm looking for a louder, noise cancelling fan. Is this fan more quiet or more loud?

3 Answers
  • A: I find it noisy on low setting; higher settings are obviously noisier. Not sure what level of noise you're trying to override, but this could work maybe.

Q: how do you open this to clean it ?

3 Answers
  • A: When your fan gets dirty with its blades and grilles full of dust and you want to clean it, forget it because good luck opening it. It is not designed for that. You will have to live with it if you endure the black dirt on a white background or buy another one.

Q: Which way does the air blow, same side as the rotary dial or opposite side? I’m thinking of using it as a window fan to exhaust the stale air out. I’d like to leave it in the window without having to take it down. Cheers!

  • A: You are correct, the control and flow it is usually facing you. The only exception is one with reversible flow control. In fact, the reason I bought it was to put in my window to exhaust warm/hot air, it works really well. It does move a lot of air even at it's first setting, there is noise associated with moving so much air.
