Slightly disappointed

Got this to replace the one I had from childhood. Disappointed that it is not as bright as the one from my childhood. It is battery powered, which is probably the reason why. Unless the room is completely dark you cannot see the lights on. The star does not light up.

Q: Are the light removable or glued in?

A: The battery pack is glued in but easy to remove. I am going to remove it and replace with a light like those used with Christmas villages. It is a lovely tree and Canadian Tire's price is excellent! I couldn't resist - looks like the one we had when I was a kid.
