Way too sensitive, not worth the false alarms.

Purchased the 2 pack and what a PITA. Way too overly sensitive, can't even boil water without it going off. Our poor cat is freaked out by it. I sure won't be installing the 2nd one, don't need 2 screaming banshees in the house. I understand that it's importanat to have one, but this one is beyond the threshold of being able to live with. I'll be changing it out for something less prone to false alarms.

The Canadian Tire description said it was battery backup. I assumed that meant electric (120 volt) with a battery backup in case of power failure. That is not the case. It is battery only. I only discovered it once I opened the package which is pretty much destroyed. I plan to try and return them to the store. Maybe it works fine but it is not what I wanted.
