A: You might have to take the guard off. For the most part I keep the guard off so I can put on whatever size wheel I want. I have a dozen 20v brushless Dewalt tools now, this is by far the one I use most. I expect to replace some of my corded grinders with more like this. I very often put a 60v flex volt battery on it and it is a beast. You don't know how much cords get in the way till you have a sweet tool like this one. Just a home gamer here, professionals might see it otherwise.

Q: what does the kick back mean, what does it do?

A: Kickback is a sudden reaction to a pinched or snagged rotating wheel, backing pad, brush or any other accessory. Pinching or snagging causes rapid stalling of the rotating accessory which in turn causes the uncontrolled power tool to be forced in the direction opposite of the accessory’s rotation at the point of the binding.
