Salad plates missing

I have bought this 1 month ago and gifted to my mom. Now when she has opened, there are 2 salad plates missing. I didn’t expect this from Canadian tire since i was always buying from Canadian tire but i won’t buy again from here.

Q: Hi. Where can I find the manufacturer's information about safety, especially if they are free of lead and cadmiun. The boxes shows it is microwave and dishwasher safe but it does not display any other label from the FDA or similar to prove safety. Thanks

A: Dinnerware does satisfy the definition of a Hazardous Material (under the Hazardous Products Act) and so the manufacturer is not required to provide an Safety Data Sheet - and if you didn't find one in the box they likely don't have one to send you. It's a good question though because porcelain "MAY" contain trace amounts of other metals. Porcelain is typically made from kaolin, feldspar, clay and silica - all substances that would have been "mined" and thus exposed to the elements (excuse the pun). I had a quick review of a few other porcelain-based product's SDS sheets (for example floor and wall tiles used for commercial purposes) as I was curious, and the sheets only suggested "may", but in such small amounts that they could not be reasonably measured. One might 'hope' that the manufacturer of dinnerplates would use a higher grade of porcelain than that. We have been using the plates for a year now and we put them in the dishwasher and microwave continuously. Sadly, because it's not one of those consumer product types, you're just as unlikely to find an SDS from a more expensive set of dinnerware.

Q: I have a Canvas plate set that has started to chip, do I need to bring the entire set back or can I bring in the damaged items. We have only used lightly for less than two weeks ... got at Xmas.

Q: I bought these 5 months ago and I'm having a major breakage issue with them. I do not have a microwave or dishwasher. If they tap together the wrong way when stacking them gently they chip or break Is there any warranty on them?
