Bondo Fiberglass Repair Kit

Since our local marina couldn't repair some damage on our SeaDoo hull until the wintertime, I was referred to a fiberglass repair shop in the Kanata region. I got a quote of $2,000.00 to refurbish the entire hull OR $800.00 to repair 3 small gashes on the hull. I thought it was way overpriced, so my son and I repaired the hull simply cleaning the areas with nail polish remover (since I didn't have any Acetone around) and using the Bondo Fiberglass Repair Kit. The entire procedure from cleaning to final application took us 40 minutes and my SeaDoo has not taken on any water since we repaired it almost a month ago. We are very pleased with the results.

Q: Does it dry clear or white? My boat is white and I don't to see the hole even if it's fixed I want it to blend

A: Hi, thank you for your question. It would certainly not be optically clear. However, as the resin ages, it can go from colourless to a faint amber tint.

Q: Will this product work to repair a "weeping" leak at a seam on a motorcycle gas tank? Will the gas eat through the fiberglass once cured?

A: Hi, thanks for your question. Unfortunately, this kit is not intended for gas tank repair, it will not stand up to the gasoline.

A: If the tub is fiberglass this could work, first, please test for suitability and ensure the tub is clean and dry as per the preparation instructions. We would advise against using this kit if the tub is made from porcelain.
