Q: Does gruddle need to be oiled when making pancakes? I've learned from experience once you add oil to nonstick it becomes sticky and impossible to clean off.

A: I use only butter , and it’s really easy to clean it, nothing sticks on it …. You have to wait your unity to cool down before you clean it with dishes soap, unless you will damage it!

Wouldn't get hot enough

I bought this to replace my old Black & Decker griddle (which I had for nearly ten years, which also replaced a B&D griddle before that one). For starters, this one has a cord that's almost half the length that the other ones did, and I found myself having to rearrange my countertop just to put this one within reach of a wall outlet. The other two B&D griddles I had before this one had ample cord length to reach an open space on my countertop to bypass my coffee maker and microwave. Not this one. I have to move these objects just to use it. Secondly, it heats to about half the power it should be. I made pancakes and set the unit to my usual 360-365 degree temperature. I understand that the heat light first turns on, and then turns off once the desired temperature is met. In this case, the light was on and and about 5 minutes or so, turned off, but when I dropped the batter in, I noticed the griddle really didn't feel ready with my hands near it. It took about 15 minutes for me to feel like I could do an underside check. It was yellow, and not at all cooked. I then turned the temperature up to a whopping 400 (which should easily burn pancake batter in a minute), the light went on to increase heat, then turned off after a few minutes, indicating temperature met. The same two pancakes were trying to cook on their one side, and barely reached a flippable state after another 10-15 minutes on "400" with them only getting to a light-brown colour. I flipped them and waited another 10-15 minutes for the other side to catch up to a light-brown colour. On 400? That isn't normal. I cook two at a time, so with this unit, I had four pancakes cooked after nearly an hour. If I had to guess, the temperature was only meeting about half of its power, with 360 feeling more like 250, and 400 feeling closer to 300. Since most foods require a 350 setting, this unit won't be able to do the work. Unfortunately, I'll be returning it immediately.

This is a perfectly fine, light griddle that serves its purpose well with a good non-stick surface that is easy to clean. The surface area is mildly reduced by the grease channel making 3 or 4 pancakes the maximum that can be cooked at one time. I am also concerned about the fragility of the feet, but so far they are holding up.
