required to place compostables in city bin for pick up. Unfortunately in Kamloops we can't use cheaper bags with some biodegradable plastic in them so it becomes expensive.

Great kitchen compost bags

These "Bag to Earth" kitchen compost bags are the best we've found locally. The outside bag is fairly firm so you can roll down the top about 2" so it stays open to put compost in without the bag continually closing. They are lined with a wax or something that delays composition so the bag doesn't break through the bottom when you remove the bag from the plastic compost bin a few days later. Liquids will start to seep through within about a week or 2 so best to strain organics first to minimize liquids. Otherwise way better than the thin cheap bags at the dollar stores.

Q: Which compost bins are most closely compatible with this bag? Preferably no or limited gaps at the opening.

A: At Canadian Tire, they have a product number 042-9710-0 that it made especialy for it. This Kind of bag is very good, but expensive. Earth of bag do other kind of bags.
